| Notes for Raymond Richard (Spouse 1) |
01.05.2001
Mary Kuss Cornelius told the story of her brother Raymond Kuss who was forced to entertain Delano when they came to visit. Ray ended up getting on the phone and telling the story himself. He and Delano bought straws and peas when they went downtown Minneapolis on the street car. Instead of taking the streetcar home, they walked all the way from down town. As they made their way up Central Avenue, they had peas in their mouth and shot at the street cars as they went by. Ray said those staws could were really accurate. He sprayed Delano along the way as well. One time Delano and Raymond were at Uncle Cliffords farm. Raymond let Delano drive his car around the barn yard. Its a memory Delano never forgets. Delano has always been partially handicapped since birth. He had trouble walking and also was mentally slow.
Ray had a garden tractor .... 13 years old. Has a Delano type individual living next door to him in the trailer park in Mounds View, MN. Raymond was getting his tractor all tuned up while the next door neighbor was watching him. Ray asked if the guy would like to drive his tractor. Went out in street and came back. The next thing Raymond sees is a look of panic on the guys face. "How do you stop this thing!" Ray quickly grabbed the throttle and pulled it back before the man ran into his buildings. |
