James Harvey Warner told or wrote back to Indiana about the fruit in Minnesota. (Back in Indiana they had nice fruit trees, apples and so on) Aunt Martha Hawkins (his oldest sister) said after she got up to Minnesota, "All there is, is a few little damn blue grapes."
James Harvey Warner was in the Civil War. Private of Company D, 48th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Mustered in January 1, 1862 at Paducah, Kentucky. Honorable discharge January 25, 1863 at Memphis, Tennessee by reason of disability. He was wounded in action. |
