There were lots of wild game in the early days. Prairie chickens, wild geese, and ducks... also sand hill cranes. The cranes were long legged tall birds. Aunt Net Lane (Caroline Jannett Warner) had a pet crane. It was tall enough to pick up a biscuit from the table.
