Along about 1882, Rose left Minnesota, going by train to San Francisco, California. She and three other girls took a boat from San Francisco to Portland, Oregon. They were the only girls on the boat and they took turns "standing guard" while the others slept. Rose Warner went to Portland to marry Dr. Fred D. Miller, whom she had known back in Minnesota.
Asher Warner, Seth Warner, Martha Warner Hawkins and Caroline Janett Warner (Aunt Net Lane) also went back to the Indiana - Michigan area to live for awhile. |
