First, I received your e-mail on Thursday. Then yesterday (Saturday) my mom and I were in Atwater, MN, for a family reunion of the Walter Vernon Warner family. (One of the grandsons, Charles Holman, lives there.) Vernon, as he was called, was the 4th son of Asher Warner and Hattie Ray. Asher was a brother of your great-grandfather Samuel Warner. My mom is the only child of Vernon's older brother Fred Harvey Warner, and her cousins always extend an invitation to us to come to their family reunion. We learned some rather startling news. We always thought that Vernon had committed suicide (in 1947). One of his grandsons said this weekend that he was murdered. It seems a man who had been a farm neighbor at the time confessed on his death bed (in 1981) that he had shot and killed Vernon! Nothing was pursued since everyone is now dead and gone. I took a little time Friday evening to look at your Web site and was very excited to see the photographs you have posted! The ones of Asher and Hattie, Earl, and Bert are ones that we had never seen before. Do you have any idea when/where they were taken? Were they "lifted" from a group photo? I copied your .jpgs to my computer to print larger pictures. The ones of Earl and Bert are good. The one of Asher and Hattie is distorted. (The same is true when I saved the photo of Sam and Mary.) If you have the original photo, would it be possible to scan it again (especially if a group photo) and send it to me? I was very interested in your list of resources, particularly: 44 and 56. Genealogy Document created by Cora or Lucy Warner and sent to Evelyn Warner Cornelius who gave a copy to Duane Kuss. I too, have a very detailed and lengthy family history document that was put together by Lucy Warner. It's a photocopy of the original spiral-bound notebook where Lucy recorded the family tree of both James W. Warner and Cordelia Shedd, births-deaths-marriages, newspaper clippings, and anecdotal information. I got this copy from Cheryl Warner, a great-granddaughter of Sylvester Warner. Cheryl came by it from relatives after Lucy died. The information that I have (and that's posted on my on-line family tree) came from Lucy's book and seems to be much more complete than what you have. I just updated my information earlier this evening. 43 and 56. "Final letter from Alta Gollnick," Jan 5, 1982, St. Lukes Home, Blue Earth, MN, How Mary met Samuel. Left Indiana for MN pregnant with Samuel, the only child of the family born in MN. Cordelia couldn't possibly have been pregnant with Sam when she came to MN. James W. bought the Minnesota farm property in 1863, he and the older boys came to Minn early in 1864, and the rest of the family except for Cordelia---who was ill with erysipelas---arrived in August 1864. Cordelia arrived some time later. (All the previous info. from my copy of Lucy's family history.) Sam wasn't born until 1866. Now, about my attachments: Warner, Seth & Alta -- I received the original of this photo from someone who found it at an antique store in California and posted it on the internet. It had their names written on the back and was taken at a Blue Earth, MN, studio. Seth and Alta's adopted daughter Sadie ended up in CA, so I'm guessing it came from her personal effects? Asher-Sam-Nettie -- Cheryl has the original of this picture of Asher and Hattie, Mary and Sam, and Nettie Lane. Taken at Alta Stier's home in Blue Earth. Warner_Asher & Hattie -- This is my mom's photo, taken in 1934. No, it's not at a cemetery. The flowers between them were planted in a pail that sat on a stump in my mom's parent's yard! When I get together again with mom, I will go through her photos and find different ones of Earl and Bert Warner to share with you. I would really enjoy getting together with you in person sometime to compare notes of all this information. I'm sure Cheryl would too (she lives in Eden Prairie, not far from me in Bloomington), as would my mom, and my brother Larry who I mentioned in last week's e-mail. My mom, brother and I spent a full week last summer in LaPorte County, Indiana, researching and sorting out the Warner families there, and I have lots of info on my on-line family tree about these earlier generations (also added some information on the Shedds). I have photos of the Indiana graves and markers in the cemeteries, too. One of James W. Warner's brothers (Elijah) was a POW in the Civil War and died in a Confederate prison near Atlanta. My brother Larry is on a quest to determine who was Aaron Warner's father (Aaron being James' father.) Tell me about WOW Training Company. I work as a writer/trainer for a documentation and training company in Minneapolis called Fredrickson Communications (www.fredricksoncommunications.com). Currently, I'm on a project at 3M in Maplewood developing on-line user procedures for an enterprise web content and delivery application that they're implementing.
