HOW I QUIT SMOKING
My Painless Method

I started smoking cigarettes in college. After
twenty years of smoking a pack a day I wanted to quit and I did.
This is the method that made quitting EASY for me.
First, I cut back to only 2 puffs at a light-up( one to light the cigarette
and one to savor). Then I put the cigarette out and saved it for
the next two puffs. This started a weaning- off process.

After a year of 2 puffs and a move to a new apartment, I was ready to quit

I bought some nicotine gum, just in case.(chew for emergency only!) use
it as a cushion.

I gave away my last carton of cigarettes so I wouldn't have the temptation
in the house.

Then, I asked my best friend to pray for me so I wouldn't run across the
street and buy more cigarettes. (Prayer does help).

I realized my smoking was just a behavioral habit that I could control
if I really wanted to. You can too, if you want to.

I ate carrot and celery sticks in place of that smoke for about a week.

I broke down once because I thought I needed to smoke to keep calm.
After one cigarette I was so disgusted I threw the
rest of the pack away. I was ashamed that I let a habit control me.That
cigarette was probably the most influential cigarette I ever had--it tasted
AWFUL! That was the last cigarette for
the rest of my life. Quitting smoking gave me a real confidence in
myself. I enjoy this new freedom! Let God help you, too: 1

That was over a year ago. I haven't even
wanted another cigarette. Realizing it was just a habit that had
full control of me and that I could change if I really wanted to
was my first step to freedom. I found quitting smoking can be simple
and easy if you use your mind!
