Thanks for visiting us. We'd appreciate it if you would sign our guestbook.

Took me two years to find your webpage. Not bad for someone who sells computer systems, but then I always was know as a slow learner. Graduated from N-K HS in '67 and last visited Nashwauk 10 years ago. Nashwauk on the 4th of July is still the best place to be. I have not found any place else like it. Keep up the coments page, nice to visit and see if any of the old gang is still around.

I don't believe it, a Nashwauk home page--what a great idea. I lived in Pengilly and graduated in 1966 from Greenway but hung around Nashwauk a lot, especially at Helen's Cafe on Central. I left in 1967 for San Francisco and moved to Boston in 1972 where I stayed for more than 20 years. I moved back out west in 1992 and now live in the heart of Silicon Valley. I rarely make it back to Minnesota, I think the last time I was in Nashwauk was 1986. I am considering a trip this year to photograph the North Shore of Lake Superior area--maybe in the fall--not sure yet. If anyone remembers me drop an email and say hello. Happy Holidays.....Lee

Another technophile heard from! It's great to see & read everyones memories and coments. As an ex-Cooleyite I remember walking (even in -30 degrees) to the bowling alley to play foosball & pinball. Sliding/skiing down the Harrison Dump almost killing ourselves! One last item- the Wolf Lake Trail, in the spring, with a case of beer!

Hello to my many good friends in Nashwauk. It pleases me that our neighbor to the west is making such progress in making it's mark on the Range. The industrial park appears to be well planned, and I like the addition of new homes next to it. The guest book is great for people like myself who like to stay in touch with old friends.

I remember Nashwauk well, as my grandparents lived at Buck Lake up 65 north of town. Although I lived in Chicago at the time I spent all my summers at the lake. I remember Joe's garage just north of the turn downtown Nashwauk, and going grocery shopping when Linds store at Buck Lake didn't have what we needed. I lived in Hibbing during WWII, and as my father was in the service, we would take the Greyhound bus to Nashwauk, and then Grandma (Minnie Anderson) would come to town to pick my mother and I up.

I just found the home page and wanted to comment about how well it is done. I use to live in Pengilly and attended the Nashwauk grade school in the 50's and also remember the fire excapes being old steel tubes and the marble games we use to have out behind the school. I then moved north of town about 6 miles a community called Cloverdale. This was under the Greenway School system and I attended high school at Greenway of Coleraine. Any that may recall my self or brother Ed (Buzz) let me hear from you. I have not been back really since the early 60's along time. Lets see if somebody will remember that far back.

I graduated with the class of 1965.I think it's really fantastic to see a web site for Nashwauk. I don't get back to Minnesota very often so this site helps me keep in touch with my roots. I live in Naples, FL. I live just a "stones throw" from the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing can beat the weather here in the winter. However, I sure do miss living in Minnesota in the fall and summer. I lived and worked in 7 states before I finally settled in Naples. Now I do my own consulting work and write on-line documentation. I'm currently developing my own web site. I have a lot of really good memories about growing up in Nashwauk. I appreciate the small town atmosphere more now than I did when I was living there. Nothing can beat it. I remember the outdoor skating rink, sliding down the hill on 4th street, and the bell ringing from the old elementary school. Chow for now folks. Hope I here from you.

What a surprise!!!! An actual "Nashwauk" Home Page... Brings back tons of memories... Mostly good.. Class of '63... (the golfer, remember???)... Haven't been back for the last few reunions... wonder if anyone's working on the 35th(this year) or the 40th??? Was a great place to be 'from'... Everything wasn't provided for us back then.. made us be 'creative' about stuff to do... think it made great inginuity and confidence builders. Fun memories of the old park bench next to the hardware store when the 'Old Farts' used to hang out and chew their snuff and contemplate the worlds news... The restuarant hangouts. Dances at the City Hall basement.. School consolidation.... Marble games.... Fights at school... Drinking at the old garbage dumps... Proms... Oh, the memories... Was great to be from a graduating class of about 35.. instead of 350.. or 1000 ! ! ! Still have a brother (Bill) living in Chisholm... Warren's in the Twin Cities and Alison's in Phoenix.. Mom's in Phoenix too... Dad passed away long time ago... My home town gave way to the "Range Expressway"... no home roots anymore, but nice to see a school town roots page... Keep it up..

Hi, Nashwauk! I am looking for some graduates from 1979 with good memories. I have a 5th grade class picture from 1971-72 and I would like to put names with faces. The picture can be seen at Does anyone remember where our class was that year. We were in the Catholic church one year and then one year in the old school after it was condemned. I think 4th grade was the church and 5th grade was the school, but maybe it was Keewatin because I think there are some Keewatin kids in the picture. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Hi Nashwauk, I grew up there at Buck Lake. My parents are Joe & Esther Nick. My brother and sisters are JoAnn, Neil, Phyllis, Gloria and Janeen. I don't want to say I listed them from oldest to youngest so I will just list them by senority. We moved to The Cities around 1962. I was born in Hibbing in 1946 so I guess that dates me a bit. It's sure great to look at the pictures. I miss the peace and quiet! The great thing about living in the country is NO sirens or Idiots running around with their sub-woofers blasting in their cars so the whole world can hear their new equipment. And you can walk down the streets at night without any fear or worries. Great web site! It's good to see it. Now I have to look through my old pictures and see if I can contribute. My mother, M. Alice Mewhinney (1907-1995) grew up on the Location, as her father, Thomas S. Mewhinney was the Walking/ Pit Boss of the Hawkins. I can remember riding on a mine locomotive in the 30s and the view and noise from the catwalk of the washing plant in the 40s. In retirement, Tom and Anne Mewhinney lived in a second floor apartment in the building by the observation platform. I lived in Nashwauk for 8 years. I would think that a few still remember me as my parents still live part of the year just down the block from the Fragnito's. I haven't been back in several years myself, though, as I thoroughly enjoy South Florida weather.

I was raised 11 miles North of Nashwauk on beautiful Shoal Lake. I am a 1981 graduate of N-K. My mother owned "The Jean Jungle" clothing store and my dad still has his Logging business. The Nashwauk 4th and fire works are still a treat for our family (this year the Garboni bros. are going to get WET). See you all on the 4th!

Hello Nashwauk, Really nice to look in and see everyone. Hello to my old buddy Carl Cardille. If anyone sees him, tell him to get on line. His friends are waiting for him to respond. I moved to Nashwauk from Kansas when I was five and now that I have to go to college in the fall I realize now how nice a small town is to live in. Nice page!

I lived in Nashwauk during the 50's and just recently revisited the area. It was brilliantly beautiful with its fall colors and pristine lakes . . and Nashwauk itself, well, it looked great...a special care has been taken by seemingly all residents to contribute to an overall sense of the charm and dignity of smalltown Minnesota. The Iron Range with its boundless mining and logging history, wonderful scenery, and proud residents truly lives on!

It is so nice to see a home page of Nashwauk's on the net. I grew up in Pengilly and Keewatin, and I still have love for the area. I was a 67 graduate on NK and my mother taught their for many years. Her name was Bernice Draskovick, she passed away three years ago. It is nice to share our common bond of the Iron Range together.
