Those fourth of July's in the 60's as a kid were great. Loved to get together with the Drazenovich's and the Shebly's. Miss those days so much

As a child of Cooley I am so happy to visit this web page. Now a resident of Iowa it is so close but so far from home. Cooley was the perfect place for a kid to grow up. I love to read about the old gang and would love to see some more from them. Thanks for bringing back some great memories like of "Bob" burning the fields around Cooley and the parties that the adults had on New Year's Eve. We were just like one big family. Say Hi to John Owens (My dad) if you see him. You just can't beat the times we all had! Thanks for the great page. Had a great time reading the notes from everyone. They are right, Nashwauk's 4th is the best - see you in a couple weeks!

HI Everyone in Nashwauk!! My brother, Lynden told me about your web page and had to check it out. I'm a 73 graduate of good old N-K. It was nice seeing all the pix of some of the wonderful things we have in Nashwauk. We've got lots of memories. It was a great town to grow up in. Anyone want to chat, just email me and I'll get back at ya.

Have fond memories of Nashwauk...Spent many summers in the 50's with my grandmother (Catherine Sheff - who was Truant Office for a few years) and my uncle (George Sheff) and aunt (Bertha Sheff). As I recall they lived in a white house on First Street (114?) across the street from a small grocery store and next to a tavern. My farther was Lou ("Cap") Sheff...If any natives remember anything regarding any of these individuals would apprecite the "e mail"...My Grandfather, Paul Sheff, was Deputy Sheriff and owned a tavern (?) in Nashwauk...he passed away around 1920. Hello, I would just like say to all the people that knew Theresa Carpenter, we will always remember her. She was a great friend to all of us. Just don't forget how much she meant to any of us. And, look at how many people it affected when she died. So don't do something like that, because it will affect many people.

Nashwauk truly offers the friendliest and most laid back folks one could ask to find. The peacefulness and serenity of "God's country" is truly splendid. I've been enjoying times at our family's lake cabin about 30 years now!! Wow. Last summer I spent more time at the cabin than in many recent years and plan to be there as frequent or more this summer. In addition I can readily admit that the 4th of July events are wonderful for all--both young and old. Bopping to bands like Walter Smith is great--even for my young child!!! We will be seeing you again soon Nashwauk!

I really would love to come "home" on the 4th and see you "old" but dear friends. I still subscribe to the EI and try to keep up with the town happenings - it's really hard to give up those roots - especially when they hold such great memories! Back again, Just can't get enough of a good thing. I noticed a lot of people talking about "our" 4th of July fireworks, and was wondering "were the fireworks that good or was it just the biggest thing in town"? Upon some reflection back into the cobwebs of my mind, I've decided !!"NASHWAUK'S FIREWORKS WERE THE BEST"!! I married a girl from the "BIG" town of Hibbing, and on our first 4th together I convinced her to see the "small town" fireworks. She was impressed, to say the least. After we moved to IN, our County has the 2nd largest county fair in the US. Sorry to say but, NASHWAUK'S FIREWORKS are BETTER!! Keep up the good work Y'all. L8ter jpj

Hi from new "neighbors" (less than 20 miles away). When first driving thru your lovely community on one of many real estate "scouting" trips, was so impressed and now to find your web site was terrific. Found it in the 1999 issue of "Welcome to Itasca County" informational guide. Also noticed we use the same internet provider. I've signed in a couple of times, but tonight as I was waiting for the page to come up, I had a chance to really look at the cover page for the web site! I was born and raised with that water tower right outside my back door. I have so many memories of fun and games in the shadow of the tower - wild horses in the little empty lot that could only be accessed along side of the power and light building; tight rope walking the huge power poles that laid in the 3rd street alley behind our house and Latvalas - wow - how many hide and seek games were played in that alley! How many of you spent your winters sledding down the 4th Street alley and then taking your life in your own or your friends' hands as you kept going across Main Street and on to the 4th Street playground?!? No one can ever convince me that those weren't the "good ole days!" I'll be back soon; sure would love to hear from some of you! I know you're out there!
