The Savey's
B
ecky L. Savey (Loken) and Randy J. Savey were both enlisted in the United States Army and stationed in Germany when they met. They were married in the St. Mary's Church in Houston, Minnesota, on November 22nd, 1980. After the wedding both returned to Europe to complete their overseas tours in Frankfurt, Butzbach and Nurnburg.U
pon their return to the states they were stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), for several years. Becky decided to end her carrier in the military at the end of her commitment. We had a great time at Opera Land. In October of 1984 we received notice that it was for another move.O
ur next duty station was Fort Dix, New Jersey, where RJ went to work as a Drill Sergeant and Becky worked with several temporary agencies. We did a lot of archery hunting and fishing while stationed there with Skip and Karen.T
he next stop was Fort Ord California. We had our longest stay in one place there. Upon our arrival we received the great news that Becky was expecting and on August 18th 1987 Robert J. (Bo) Savey was born. Becky was employed by AMBAG as an office clerk. Three years later our daughter Bonnie L. Savey was born on August 6th 1990.J
ust received orders from the Army again, and we are going back to Germany. This time we started off in Vielseck, only to have that unit deactivate and then send us to Baumholder. While we were there we slammed a lot of beers with Randy and Bernie. We were in Baumholder for only 6 months when that unit was relocated to Fort Lewis, Washington.U
pon our arrival to Ft. Lewis in July 1994, RJ got started in Amateur Radio and passed his test becoming a Ham. RJ also got his pride and joy his new boat and the fishing returns again. Becky went to work with the Army's insurance company Tri Care. Becky also picked up an interest in Ham radio and received her license. After only a year and a half it was time once again to pack up the house and head across the country.T
his time it was off to tornado alley at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. We joined the Lawton/Ft. Sill Amateur Radio Club W5KS. Becky became very active in running net control for the SW Oklahoma ARES net and RJ became joined the forces in storm spotting. Becky and RJ's farthest contacts on VHF radio have been into Florida and South Dakota. Becky has taken up spinning everything from wool to dog hair on her Lendrum spinning wheel. Becky has also formed her own business Savey Stitches, in making everything from doll cloths to adult wear. In her spare time she is found on the sideline of the soccer field cheering on Bo and Bonnie during their games. As with all things the RJ's time in the US Army has come to an end. RJ Retired from the service on February 1st, 1999. At which time we moved to Minnesota and started the house hunting all over again.
